International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the most popular English language test in the world. IELTS is widely accepted by universities around the world. More than two million IELTS tests are taken each year.
Every major education destination accepts IELTS to satisfy the English Language requirements. IELTS is now accepted in top universities in UK, USA, Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and more.
What is IELTS?
It’s also known as International English Language Testing System. It is managed by the British Council, IDP. More than 3million takes test every year. It is accepted worldwide i.e., around 10,000 organizations in over 140countries (as a proof of proficiency in English).
IELTS score is valid for 2years from the test date. It is conducted on 48 fixed dates per year. It is mainly focused on overall competency & ability to communicate in an academic environment.
There are two tests:
•Academic
•General training
•Academic = It has been developed if you wish to study at any university or college as an undergraduate or post-graduate in English-speaking countries to gain entry into any professional institutions
•General = If you opt for General training, you can gain entry into secondary education, a college or Education training center, or for migration to any English-speaking County.
IELTS Formats are divided into 4 sections
Listening:
It contains 40 questions. Each correct answer is given 1 mark. You listen to the recording and answer the questions for 30 minutes. After that you have 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet. You only get a chance to listen once to the recording.
Reading :
The second section in IELTS is reading which will be around 60minutes. It consists of three or sometimes four reading passages and there are total of 40 questions to answer. The academic and General Training reading test have the same level.
Speaking:
IELTS Speaking is a face-to-face, normal conversation between two people in front of the IELTS examiner, and is the same for both Academic and General Training. The test is divided into 3 parts and is designed to test your pronunciation, fluency, grammar and vocabulary.
Academic Writing:
1st task:- 20minutes are allowed to the candidates and they have to write about 150 words
2nd task:-40 minutes are allowed to the candidates and they have to write about 250 words.
General writing:
Task 1 Writing a short letter for a specific purpose
Where you can show out your ability in communication by using the method of English letter-writing conventions
Task 2 Writing an essay
In Task 2 of the General Training Writing test, you are asked to write an essay in response to a point of view, an argument, or a problem.
